    • January 17-19, 2020 New York TBA. Please note that an accompanist will be provided. 

      • 9-9:50 am- Program overview
      • 10-11:20 am- Learn the dance combination 
      • 11:30 am - 6:30 pm - Starting auditions
    • February 2-5, 2019 Chicago Unified Auditions: Ballet Chicago: 17 North State Street, 19th floor. 

      Please note that an accompanist will NOT be provided. Please bring a device to play your pre-recorded tracks.

      Please be aware that you will be required to attend the program overview with faculty and dance call.

      February 2

      • 11:15am Check-in

      February 3-4

      • 9:00am- Check in
      • 9:10-10:10am- Program overview

      • 12:00-5:15pm- 15 minute slots available

      February 5

      • 9am-1:45pm- 15 minute slots available
      • There will be no Program Overview or Dance Call on February 5. You can attend either Sunday, Monday or Tuesdays. 

       

    • On-campus callbacks - January 25-26, 2020 (Applicants should be available to attend a master class on the 25th even if their audition day is the 26th.)

      On-campus callback - February 15-16, 2020 (Applicants should be available to attend a master class on the 15th even if their audition day is the 16th.)

      An accompanist will be provided for all On-Campus auditions.

CALLBACK REQUIREMENTS

SONG REQUIREMENT

You need to prepare two contrasting songs. Each song must be no longer than 32 bars. Please have a third, "Pop Rock" 16-bar cut. If you are singing two contrasting contemporary musical theatre songs, please have 16 bars of a traditional musical theatre or standard song available, if we ask for it. 

ACTING REQUIREMENT

• Prepare 2 one-minute contrasting monologues. Must be from a play. Film or a television show monologues are also acceptable. No monologues from musicals. The faculty panel will decide if you will present your second monologue. Contemporary monologues preferred but not required. 

• Make sure that your selection is appropriate for your age.
• The selection should NOT require dialect, costume or props.

DANCE REQUIREMENT

The dance audition will consist of a dance class ending with a short combination from a Broadway musical demonstrating Ballet and Jazz Technique. 
• Candidates should dress in basic dancewear.
• Women should wear a character shoe or jazz shoe, and leotard with dance tights (If you tap, bring shoes.)
• Men should wear jazz or ballet shoes, a form-fitting solid t-shirt or tank, jazz pant or tights.
• No shorts or bulky, oversized sweat-pants/sweatshirts are permitted. Sneakers are not allowed.

An accompanist will be provided for all auditions EXCEPT Chicago Unifieds


Additional Audition Opportunities

Texas State Musical Theatre Program will also be attending the CAP (College Audition Project) Auditions in Atlanta, November 14-17 and the College Consortium Auditions in Orlando, January 3-5.


Offers- Campus Visiting Dates

Please note dates that offer candidates are invited to come to campus and sit in on classes and rehearsals.

If you are made an offer we recommend visiting for two full days of classes if you did not have your callback on campus. Visit also includes a campus, theater facilities, and dorm tour.
