Caroline Sutton Clark teaches dance at Texas State University and is Artistic Director of Wicked Cricket Dance Theatre in Austin, TX. She has enjoyed a wide-ranging career in dance, performing professionally with ballet, modern, and butoh companies in addition to studying several Asian, Pacific, and African forms. Originally a ballet dancer with Ballet Austin, she pursued modern dance with studies in New York City and a BFA in Dance from the University of Michigan. Caroline also received a MFA in Dance from the University of Hawaii along with the Carl Wolz Award for Excellence in Performance and Choreography and a National Dance Association award for Outstanding Graduate Student. In 1995 she won the Hawaii State Dance Council Choreographic Awards competition, serving as a judge for the same event in 1997. While in Hawaii Caroline began studying the Japanese dance/theatre form butoh, eventually touring nationally as principal butoh dancer and Assistant Director with Iona Pear Dance Theatre. Caroline’s work has been commissioned by professional companies in St. Louis, Honolulu, Seattle, Austin, and Minneapolis.
