B.F.A. Acting at Texas State University is a comprehensive undergraduate pre-professional acting program. While engaged in a diverse, progressive, and challenging course of study in the art of acting, the student receives the benefit of a broad liberal arts education. Our goal is to develop well-rounded, versatile young actors who are prepared upon graduation to go directly into the professional world or, if they should so choose, to enter an URT/A graduate program.

The B.F.A. Acting Program is for the student who has decided to pursue a career as a professional actor, and is committed to developing his/her talent and skills to the fullest potential.

A professionally experienced and academically distinguished acting faculty is dedicated to preparing the student for a highly competitive and artistically demanding profession. With the varied opportunities available to actors today—from Shakespeare Festivals to TV sitcoms, from commercials to physical theatre, from musicals to feature films—versatility and a rigorous training program is essential for a successful career. With this in mind, the acting faculty guides the student through a four-year consilient sequence of courses focused on both the art and the business of the profession.
