Shirley Knight is an award winning actress who has starred in film, television, theater and radio for over 50 years. Her film credits include Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, As Good As It Gets and such classics as Dutchman for which she received Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival, The Dark At The Top Of The Stairs(Oscar nomination) and Sweet Bird Of Youth(Oscar nomination). After studying at the Pasadena Playhouse Theatre School she began her film career in 1959. She then went to New York and began her theatre career. She studied acting with Lee Strasberg and played Irina in his legendary production of The Three Sisters with Geraldine Page and Kim Stanley. She is also long time member of The Actors Studio. Her acting awards are numerous and include Two Oscar nominations, Two Tony Award nominations (one win), Two Drama Desk nominations, Ten Emmy nominations (three wins), Three Golden Globe' nominations (two wins), Cannes Film Festival Critics Prize and the Joseph Jefferson Award. She has appeared in hundreds of television shows including Desparate Housewives(Emmy nomination), House and Law and Order(Emmy nomination). She has appeared on Broadway and in theatres around the country including receiving a Tony award for her performance in Kennedy's Children, and a Tony nomination for Horton Foote’s The Young Man From Atlanta.
