Mission

The mission of the Department of Theatre and Dance is to nurture the next generation of collaborative, curious, and civically engaged artists, educators, and scholars through excellence in teaching, meaningful co-curricular opportunities, and individual mentorship for graduate and undergraduate students.  The department promotes the advancement of knowledge, innovation, and cultural understanding on a global and local level through creative activities and research.

About Us

Texas State University’s Department of Theatre and Dance offers a diverse range of degrees in theatre, allowing our students to find a program suited to their skills and interests. The department offers three undergraduate degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre and Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre with an emphasis in Acting, All-Level Teacher Certification, Performance and Production, Film Production, and Technical Production. At the graduate level, the department offers two graduate degrees: Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Design, and Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Directing.

Our Dance Division offers two undergraduate degrees: Bachelor of Arts in Dance and Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance with an emphasis in Performance and Choreography, Single Level Teacher Certification and Dual Level Teacher Certification.

The department also offers an undergraduate minor in Theatre and another in Dance.
